The physical progress of the Tanahun hydropower project under construction has reached 63 percent. According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, the financial progress of the 140 MW project is 58 percent.
According to the authority, the main structure is being divided into three packages. A 140-meter high main dam will be constructed on the Seti River, which flows through the border of Rishing Rural Municipality-1 and Byas Municipality-5 in Tanahun. Grouting is being done in the lower level area of the main dam under package-1. A crusher and moisture plant has been installed and kept in readiness. The authority said that the construction of the main dam is going to start soon. The construction progress of package-1 is about 36 percent. project, a 1,493-meter long tunnel is being drilled and lined with concrete, starting from the intake (intake) of the reservoir and ending with the penstock pipe. The water from the main tunnel is 213 m. Khasali electricity will be generated in the underground power plant through long penstock pipes. For this, the authority said that the penstock pipe connection is at the final stage. The Chinese company Sino Hydro Corporation is doing the construction of package-2, including the tunnel, power plant construction and hydromechanical and electromechanical equipment supply, installation and operation of the
project. The construction of the civil structure of the power plant is in the final stage. Construction of swissyard, installation of equipment in the power house and other works are being done. The construction of the tailrace has been completed. The overall physical progress of package-2 is about 62 percent. Under
package-3, construction of 220 KV double circuit transmission line from Damauli to Bharatpur in Chitwan is being done by KIC International Limited, India. Out of the 94 towers on the 34.7 km transmission line, 78 foundations have been laid and 69 have been erected. The overall construction progress of this package is 74 percent. The process of developing the 126 MW Lower Seti hydropower project in the lower coastal area has also been advanced by using the flow and water from the Madi River after the generation of electricity. Tanahun rural electrification and distribution system has been completed through the authority's project management directorate to electrify Tanahun under the social development program of
project. Under this, two substations of 33/11 KV have been brought into operation at Ghiring Rural Municipality-4 and Bandipur Rural Municipality-6 for local electricity supply. A 33 kV line has been constructed to deliver electricity to the substation. Distribution transformers of various capacities have been installed and 11 KV lines have been constructed. Under the
community development program, 63 projects have been conducted so far in the project-affected areas. According to the authority, various skill-based trainings are being conducted for the livelihood and income generation of the project affected people.
