Construction of a 400 kilovolt (KV) substation is underway in Sindhupalchok's Bahrbise municipality. The construction of a 400 kV twelve-bise substation has been started to flow the electricity of the hydroelectric projects to be built on the Tamakoshi and Sunkoshi rivers and their tributaries to the national transmission system and to strengthen the system within the country. The construction of 220/132 KV and 132/11 KV substations has been completed at the same location and the testing of the equipment has been completed.
All the equipment of the 400 KV twelve-bay substation based on Gas Insulated System (GIS) technology has been supplied to the construction site. The construction of the civil structures to house the power transformers is being completed and is being connected.
The civil structure of the building housing the control room and GIS equipment is under construction. After the construction of civil structures is completed, the connection of the equipment will begin. The overall construction progress of the substation is around 70 percent. The construction of the substation is going on in full swing to be completed by next May.
Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising said on Saturday that the substation construction site He has requested the project management and construction professionals to complete the entire work before the specified time after monitoring. Executive Director Ghisingh said, 'After the construction of 400 KV Bahrbise substation is completed, the electricity of the hydroelectric projects built in the Balefi and Bhotekoshi river corridors can be sent to Dhalkebar through the pair Bahrbise-Khimti 400 kV transmission line in this substation. Can be exported to India, hence the substation Let's keep the construction as a top priority and proceed with the remaining works at a fast pace.
Khimti, Bahrbise and Lapsiphedi 400 KV substations are under construction under the three substations project. Under the Tamakoshi-Kathmandu 220/400 KV transmission line project, the construction of 43 km transmission line from New Khimti substation at Ramechhap to Barhabise is in the final stage.
The construction of the Khimti-Bahrbise-Kathmandu transmission line, which has been facing problems such as land use and tree felling problems, as well as local obstacles, said Executive Director Ghising. Out of the 118 towers on the Khimti-Bahrbise transmission line, 117 foundations have been laid. 115 towers have been erected. 36 km of wire has been stretched. The remaining 1 tower is under construction. Khimti-Bahrbise section is being put into operation by next January.
Similarly, a 46 km 400 KV double circuit transmission line from Bahrbise to Lapsiphedi in Kathmandu is also under construction. Out of the 122 towers on the 46 km transmission line, 118 foundations have been laid. 117 towers have been erected. 42 km of wire has been stretched. The rest of the tower is being worked on.
Lapsifedi-Changunarayan 132 KV transmission line has been extended to penetrate the electricity flowing through Khimti-Bahrbise-Kathmandu in Kathmandu valley. The construction is affected due to the obstruction of the locals.
After the completion of the 400 KV transmission line constructed by the American aid project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), electricity can be flown from Lapsiphedi to the new Butwal substation at Bhumhi in Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta West).
