The regulatory Nepal Civil Aviation Authority has taken action against the Thai AirAsia plane that came to Kathmandu without obtaining a flight permit.
Action was taken by allowing the plane that came to Kathmandu from Thailand to land. After about an hour of 'hold', the plane landed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
According to Gyanendra Bhool, information officer of the authority, the flight of Thai Air Asia has been suspended for the time being. The Official Agent (GSA) of Nepal has also been cancelled.
Information Officer Bhool informed that today's flight was allowed to be a 'special chartered' flight as the Thai AirAsia aircraft was only allowed to fly until Saturday.
'Holding the plane for a long time also raises the issue of security,' he said, 'Due to the safety and humanity of the passengers, the plane has landed by allowing today's flight. Now, for the time being, the entire permission of Nepal has been cancelled. GSA has also been cancelled.'
According to the airport office, the plane that got the special chartered flight permit will return to Bangkok today from Kathmandu.
The authority had made a 'winter schedule' for international flights from today. The authority took action after the plane tried to land without permission. The authority has published the flight schedule from (27 October 2024 to 31 March 2025). Thai AirAsia has resumed flights to Tribhuvan International Airport from last October 16th.
