According to the Malaysian government, one third of the foreign immigrants working in Malaysia are Nepali workers. The first one is Bangladeshi and the second one is Indonesian.
According to the information of the Malaysian government up to last September, 16.17 percent of Nepali workers, i.e. 399,614 people, are employed. In which the number of women is 10,957.
Bangladeshi people are employed more than twice as much as 37.82 percent, i.e. 934 thousand 542 people, compared to Nepalese. In the second place, there are 24.11 percent of Indonesians, i.e. 595 thousand 811 people.
In addition to having a suitable climate for Nepali, Malaysia is the first choice of Nepali workers, as it has a higher minimum wage than the Gulf countries. Like its citizens, Malaysia has set a minimum wage of 1,500 ringgit (about 45,000 rupees).
Nepali workers are mostly employed in the manufacturing sector, 251 thousand, 10 thousand in the construction sector, 113 thousand in the service sector, 7 thousand in the plantation sector and 16 thousand in the agricultural sector, according to Malaysia.
