The country's foreign exchange reserves have increased significantly. The total foreign exchange reserves, which were equal to 20 trillion 41 billion 10 crores at the end of June 2081, increased by 2.5 percent and reached 20 trillion 92 billion 22 billion rupees at the end of July 2081.
Nepal Rastra Bank on Thursday released the current economic and financial situation of the country based on the data of the first month of the financial year 2081/82.
Such reserves in US dollars were 15 billion 27 billion at the end of June 2081 and increased by 2.0 percent to 15 billion 58 billion at the end of July 2081. Taking the import of the first month of the financial year 2081/82 as the basis, it seems that the foreign exchange reserves held by the banking sector will be enough to support 16.7 months of goods imports and 13.5 months of goods and services imports.
Out of the total foreign exchange reserves, the reserve in Nepal Rastra Bank was 18 trillion 48 billion 55 million rupees at the end of June 2081 and increased by 1.9 percent to 18 trillion 83 billion 42 million rupees at the end of July 2081.
Foreign exchange reserves with banks and financial institutions (except Nepal Rastra Bank) have increased by 8.4 percent to Rs. The share of Indian currency in the total foreign exchange reserves at the end of July 2081 is 22.6 percent.
