It was only three days after the news that the flight from Ahmedabad to London crashed in 32 seconds. Even before this incident, I had witnessed a similar shipwreck.
9th July last year . I had reached Kathmandu airport to go to Bhadrapur. I was shocked when I heard the news of the Solar Airlines accident inside the airport.
I was not able to get out of these two incidents mentally. This is when I had to go to China.
on June 1. Midnight . The China Southern plane carrying 200 passengers, including me, flew to Beijing, the capital of China, through the skies of Kathmandu. Our transit city was Guangzhou .
Being the first long international trip, I was excited as well as scared. I tried to sleep, But the turbulence and the passengers and the air hostess kept disturbing their sleep . But some fellow passengers with me fell asleep. Elam's journalist Satendra Jabegu was joking, "I sleep as soon as I board a car or a ship." The next flight from there to Beijing was at 12 noon. But, The weather became a hindrance . The airport was half submerged due to heavy rain and lightning. And Flights blocked .
The plane that was supposed to take off at 12 noon took off only at 9 pm. Landing at Beijing's Daxing Airport around midnight, exhaustion knew no bounds . After getting to the hotel and taking a rest, the next hour and a half passed in confusion after exchanging the luggage at the airport.
Outside the airport, two Chinese girls came to pick us up on behalf of the organizers. When I reached the room and fell asleep, it was 3 o'clock in the night .
The next morning another surprise came . I started looking for where my friends are. But how to find? I forgot to download WeChat . Where is it easier to contact via other means in China? I missed my breakfast while looking for friends. Sleepless night, hungry morning .
The Great Wall covered with blood and sweat
The representatives of Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia and Laos along with Nepal participated in the 'China-ASEAN Cyber Security Seminar' held from 17-30 June at the invitation of the Ministry of Commerce of China . In this international seminar held in Beijing, experts gave in-depth analytical presentations on the global cyber security landscape, President Xi Jinping's concept of a 'cyberspace community with a shared future', data security and privacy protection, the creativity and influence of Chinese culture, and various aspects of China's contemporary diplomatic policy.
Every day in the morning there was a three-hour long lecture session . Sometimes we were taken on a tour of leading companies in cyber security technology based in Beijing. Such visits were experientially very enlightening and exciting.
On the fourth day, we visited the Great Wall of China. As we reached a section of the wall, climbing the steps full of huge stone holes, the scene unfolding before our eyes was truly breathtaking. It stretched to the horizon on the historical wall, as if it stood as a silent witness of a powerful civilization .

'This wall is not just a stone structure,' Chinese Team leader Zhang Zhao said proudly, "It has the blood and sweat of thousands of workers, soldiers and prisoners mixed in it." It is a living symbol of China's courage, unity, civilization and history.'
Due to the time limit, we could only go as far as three kilometers, but even that short journey became memorable. Tourists shouting and laughing while climbing the wall, photo crews waving flags, and the sight of the wall stretching like an anaconda over the green hills made the trip more exciting. That short meeting at Greatwall was truly memorable.
The pain of the right shoe
After the seminar, we left for the mall in Beijing . Friends were buying coats, jeans, suits, I was looking for shoes. I made a plan in Nepal to buy sports shoes after reaching China. It was accompanied by a single pair of leather shoes, that too formal .
I saw my favorite shoes in Li-Ling Company's store, black-white color, powerful design, size 40 and a half size . It feels good to wear it . My friend Satendra also cheered when he said 'Gajjab suhayo'. Put on new shoes and put old slippers in the bag and left.
But, soon the problem started . Tearing pain in right leg. The left is fine, the right is annoying. Walked silently to the residence which was two kilometers away. The pain is the same the next day. In the seminar, I had to sit with my shoes open. Then I decided to go to the store and change the shoes. Friends expressed fear, Chinese stores do not take back items worn once. But, don't lose hope . I reached the shop with Satendra. The salesgirl initially took out the number 41, but after consulting someone on the phone she said it was 'non-returnable' . I begged a lot, but the shoes were not changed.
Disappointed, I returned to the residence . But, don't lose heart . After cleaning the shoes worn for three days, I arrived again tomorrow . At that time, I used a new trick . Taking the help of Zhang Zhao, the coordinator of the seminar. He After calling the salesgirl and having a long conversation in Chinese, she agreed to exchange the mismatched shoes.
This time I also changed the color . Red-Black, Size 41 . But 180 yuan had to be added, the total price reached 600 yuan . I was happy to wear the new shoes, ironically, after a while my right foot started to hurt again . Now I feel ashamed to tell my friends. Hard to stand, hard to walk, but smile on the face.
Once Satendraji said, 'The shoe hurts, I have to go and change it again, sir.' He Almost passed out laughing .
At this point, another incident came into the limelight . Both the shoes bought by the girl friend Sivakoti are on the right . Now it was our turn to laugh.
China inside the mind
About 16 days of traveling to China left a deep impression on our minds. We had heard, but when we saw and experienced China, it is really a wonderful country, disciplined, dynamic and well-organized .
Although the structure of development is surprising, the discipline seen at the civilian level is also surprising. A lifestyle that doesn't waste a second of time . Seeing all this, I remembered Nepal and wondered why we are behind.
The late flight on the first night, the luggage mess, the tight schedule, the chaotic lifestyle, all these were not experiences, they were life lessons .
When we returned from China, we didn't just have shopping bags, we had with us, a philosophy of development, respect for the value of time, discipline and a new understanding of management .
If our society is also disciplined, serious about time and orderly ? This is the lesson taught by China. We returned home . But, to tell the truth, a little China came with us, inspiring discipline, dynamism and order .
