Theater is not only a place for acting, it is a powerful medium for telling stories and expressing emotions of the society. Theater in Nepal has opportunities on the one hand and many challenges on the other hand.

Artists of color are struggling due to financial difficulties, lack of stable career and limited audience. However, the development of technology, the interest of the new generation and the use of digital means have also brought new possibilities in this field. Among such opportunities and challenges, how an artist moves forward in his journey is important.

After SLC, I came to Kathmandu with the goal of becoming a songwriter and singer. I had a deep interest in the field of art since childhood. Graduated in Music . I was interested in dancing, singing and acting since school. But while studying for graduation, my vocals started to deteriorate . The doctors advised me to rest my voice and I was forced to give up music . Later I did my Masters in Nepali Literature . It was very painful for me to leave the

music tour . I started writing ghazals to fill that void. My inclination towards literature increased .

With the growing interest in literature, I started watching drama . Fortunately, I had the opportunity to watch the plays of the best dramatists of Nepal at that time . My theater journey started with watching plays.

While all this was going on, I met a brother I knew . I told him that I would like to get on the stage sometime . And he himself offered to play a small role in a movie. After that movie, I got an opportunity to play the lead role in another movie . Both these films focused on the Magar community. Due to technical reasons, this movie could not be completed . After that, I also did a short film .

Meanwhile, the drama's journey began unexpectedly. My first play was as a substitute for another actor . But by chance, I got to do the whole drama. This is where my real stage journey started .

But for some reasons of solidarity, I got ready to go abroad . While planning to go to Japan, at the same time, an opportunity came to play the lead role in the play 'Jokhana'. Which changed my path completely . He introduced me to many people.

I originally came to Kathmandu for music, not for theatre. But circumstances turned me towards drama . At that time I felt, when you put your mind to something, success will follow itself . After the play 'Jokhana', various opportunities automatically started coming to me . You don't have to run anywhere to find a job. I would hardly have been able to do what I do today if I hadn't been encouraged when a career in music was not possible . I got an opportunity to work in the movie 'Khajure Bro'. Recently I have also acted in 'Khusma'. Now 'Jerry on Top' is being filmed . Now I am directing the drama 'Sahid Bolchha'. Rehearsals are going on.

It has been seven years since I entered the theater field . But not fully affiliated with any theater . Me and some of my friends have registered a theatre . There is a plan to start building the hall soon.

Currently, there is some increase in the interest of the youth towards the theater . There is a growing understanding that one should learn from theater in order to get into the film industry . Today's well-known actors have come to films through theater. Appreciation of their work everywhere. That's why there are many people who want to come to the theater. But I have seen very few people who work with patience here . It is a challenge to keep working here .

theater is not a sector that can provide financial stability. It is not possible to get a job at the beginning, which is important how to deal with it . Today's generation wants to succeed quickly . Wants to go viral soon . But theater is a place that requires patience and a lot of practice. Here the artist will come with practice . Its value is gradually gained over time . The view of I came to Kathmandu to sing, I became a painter theater has not yet changed. Some people have understood that an actor is only to work in films . Even my relatives used to respond saying 'What do you do, you haven't worked in any film, you haven't seen it', rather than being an artist.

Let me give an example of a recent incident. Rehearsals are going on at Pronaam Theater now . Usually I'm around pronouns . One person was coming with a 12/13 year old father . That father said, 'Mommy is a theater. What is theater?' asked that . The woman said, "This is a place for drama, gimmicks." I was very humbled to hear this myself.  Being a female actor in

theater also has additional challenges. Some people didn't give much importance to my suggestions and ideas. There were many who didn't care when I gave them some new ideas . Also, I didn't come to play drama after learning from somewhere . There were also many people who said to me, "You should only work in our theater, don't work at the end".

There are many theaters in Kathmandu now. It needs to be taken outside Kathmandu. If you give different trainings or workshops at different places, it can have a far-reaching effect. It also provides an opportunity for those who cannot come to Kathmandu to learn drama.

Mandala Theater has been selecting and training artists from all seven provinces for two years. After receiving the training, they have started the work of teaching drama in their own villages and communities. It is necessary to extend such practices to other regional levels. In this way, new artists will also come. Those who are deprived due to economic reasons get help .

Even if small theater halls can be established in villages, new artists can easily come to this area . Those who want to come to the theater need to understand and learn all kinds of art.  A

artist must also learn multifaceted skills . It may be more difficult financially than just acting. But multifaceted skills can create new opportunities . There are many jobs in theater. For example: lights, props, stage, music etc. can also earn money.

Today's new generation can use digital media to bring theater to a larger audience. The digital knowledge they have can be used here too .

Many people say that they do not get jobs or opportunities even after learning drama . But it seems that they are not able to show their skills . To get an opportunity, others have to see the work . A couple of times I work, you should be able to see my work. By increasing your learning, you should say that you can do whatever you are given. Must be able to come to the theater as an all-rounder.

Anyone who shows perseverance and works with dedication can make his mark in this field . It is not an easy journey, the stage is always open to those who work hard.

theater has taught me many things besides acting. I learned in the theater how to solve all problems easily . Here I learned to work patiently .

is ultimately both an opportunity and a challenge for theater artists. So, with the right approach, dedication and constant practice, a stage artist can achieve success.
