Makwanpur police have arrested eight people, including six women, on charges of murdering 41-year-old Asman Gopali of Thaha Municipality–10. Among those arrested is also a hotel operator.

On Sunday morning, Gopali's body was found on the side of the highway near the Transport Management Office at Thanabaryang, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–11.

According to the District Police Office, Makwanpur, those arrested include 40-year-old Kaman Singh Majhi of Bakaiya–5 and 24-year-old Rabi Chepang of Hetauda–17. Similarly, 33-year-old Niru Tamang of Sindhuli Ghyanglekh–2, 31-year-old Manisha Kshetri of Udayapur Chaudandi–7, 22-year-old Parbati Blon of Kailash–9, 34-year-old Ram Maya Thing of Manahari–3, 22-year-old Monika Thing of Nuwakot Panchakanya–5, and 35-year-old Ashika Lama of Lalitpur Godawari–7 have also been arrested.

The District Police Office, Makwanpur, stated that all those staying in three rooms booked at a hotel in Hetauda–11 have been arrested. According to police, six people, including Gopali, had booked the rooms, and preliminary investigations have revealed that the incident occurred due to a mutual dispute. After blood was found near the body, a police team led by Superintendent of Police Shyam Bahadur Khatri was deployed for further investigation. A team with a tracker dog from the Canine Unit of the Bagmati Province Police Office was also mobilized for the investigation.

“We have taken into custody the hotel operator and those who stayed at the hotel overnight for investigation after collecting necessary evidence from the scene,” said Superintendent of Police Shyam Bahadur Khatri. “We are close to identifying the culprits of the incident.” The body of the deceased has been kept at Hetauda Hospital for post-mortem. The deceased Gopali was a livestock trader.
