Due to the forecast of rain and the risk of landslides, the Chitwan District Administration Office has banned vehicles from driving on the Narayangadh-Muglin road and the Prithvi Highway beyond Muglin from 10 pm today, Sunday.
Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal said that all types of vehicles have been banned from plying on the road section until further notice.
The Chitwan administration had also banned vehicles from plying on the road on Saturday night. But after less rain than expected and no risk of landslides was seen, vehicles started plying on Sunday morning. The road was blocked for some time after two passenger buses and a truck collided in Jalbire near Muglin due to drivers not following lane discipline.
About 30 people were injured in the accident. The Chitwan administration has made public the phone numbers to contact if assistance is needed while vehicles are closed. The administration has appealed to the public to contact Nepal Police's 100, Armed Police Force's 1114, District Emergency Center's 1234 and District Police Spokesperson's 9855013999.
