A person died after drowning in a river in Chitwan on Saturday. Rajaram Dhakal, 40, of Khairhani Municipality-8, who drowned in the Budhi Rapti River, died during treatment. According to Chitwan District Police Office spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chandra Bhushan Yadav, a team from the Khairhani Area Police Office reached the spot at 2:30 pm for rescue after receiving information that a person who had gone to collect snails had drowned. DSP Yadav said that the doctor declared him dead at 3:40 pm while he was undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital. Police have warned locals to be careful while swimming and fishing in the water during this time as rivers, streams, ponds and mud rise during the rainy season.
