After the cabinet meeting of the Bagmati Province government at 4 pm on Thursday, six ministers from the UML government were preparing to resign, but it has been stopped at the last minute.
Since there has been no clear instruction from the central leadership of both Congress-UML, both parties have agreed to continue in power. 'We will reach a decision on the future of the government after an official and clear decision from the center.' It has been agreed that no one will resign immediately,' a minister said after the cabinet meeting, 'It has been agreed that the Chief Minister will not be dismissed and that if a situation arises that he has to resign, we will proceed accordingly.'
According to him, eight ministries are being established in Bagmati Province from Friday (July 1). Currently, the Congress will lead 5 ministries and the UML 3 ministries, and Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya will determine who will be given responsibility for which ministry. Currently, there are 14 ministries in the Bagmati Province government. Eight ministries are being established from Friday to cut expenses.
‘Preparations are being made to inform the provincial chief about the change in ministerial responsibilities immediately and to place the ministers who have not been given responsibilities in the Chief Minister’s Office without any department,’ he said.
Government spokesperson and Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Prabhat Tamang said that discussions are underway between the party leadership on the issue of government operation and coalition and all issues will be resolved by consensus.
Currently, the ministers participating in the Bagmati Province government from the UML include Minister for Industry, Commerce, Land and Administration Bindu Shrestha, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Dr. Dinesh Chandra Devkota, Health Minister Kiran Thapa, Forest and Environment Minister Bharat Bahadur KC, Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Madhusudan Paudel and Labour, Employment and Transport Minister Jairam Thapa.
