The Bagmati Province government has handed over necessary materials for disaster preparedness to all three security agencies.
Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya handed over materials worth Rs 27.5 million to the security agencies on Saturday. In coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of the provincial government, the province provided disaster response materials worth Rs 7,562,299 to the Nepali Army, Rs 5,466,488 to the Nepal Police, and Rs 11,683,522 to the Armed Police Force. These include items ranging from state-of-the-art drones to water rescue equipment.
With the onset of the monsoon and the anticipated risks of floods, landslides, inundation, and road blockages, the provincial government has accelerated disaster preparedness efforts. Based on experiences from past disasters, Chief Minister Baniya has also held discussions with the security agencies as part of preparations to make risk forecasting, relief material management, information system strengthening, and rescue mechanisms more effective. A strategy has been adopted to identify high-risk areas and pre-position necessary resources, manpower, and rescue materials there in advance.
Taking into account the possibility of road disconnections during the monsoon, the provincial government has already stored rescue and relief materials at various strategic locations. According to Chief Minister Baniya, necessary materials have been safely stored in places such as Nuwakot and Hetauda–Thanabharyang in Makwanpur. Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Shivraj Adhikari stated that arrangements have been made to immediately dispatch these materials to affected areas as needed.
