The Bagmati Provincial Government has approved the ‘Provincial Strategy and Action Plan for Ending Child Marriage, 2083’. The provincial government meeting held on Friday also gave in-principle agreement to draft a bill to make necessary provisions for the empowerment of the Dalit community within the province.

According to government spokesperson and Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Prabhat Tamang, a decision has been made to select the Hattisudhe–Shikharpur–Amwas road project in Bakaiya Rural Municipality of Makwanpur as a ‘province-priority project’.

The decision was made for the upgrading of this road, which is considered of strategic importance under the Rural Road Network Improvement Project (Additional Investment). Since approval has already been obtained from the Government of Nepal for the use of 5.977 hectares of forest area and the cutting of 81 trees for this road, it has been selected as a province-priority project to facilitate this process, he said.

A decision has been made to send the draft bill for the amendment of the Local Service (Formation and Operation) Act to the Provincial Public Service Commission for consultation, and approval has been given to present the bill to amend the Cooperative Act: Provincial Cooperative Act, 2076 to the Provincial Assembly.

The meeting also approved the Industrial Regulations, Provincial Industrial Business Regulations, 2083. Approval was also granted to the proposal to amend the schedule of the Provincial Trade and Business Act, 2076.
