The Makwanpur District Court has sentenced eight people to prison terms ranging from 3 to 6 and a half years after finding them guilty of the gang rape of a teenage girl from Hetauda. The court has also ordered their guardians to pay a total of 950,000 rupees in compensation.

The bench of District Judge Geeta Shrestha found 18-year-old Sujit Kumar Lama of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-14 to be the main accomplice in the rape case and sentenced him to three and a half years in prison and a fine of 200,000 rupees. He has also been ordered to pay 50,000 rupees in compensation to the victim.

Similarly, although six others involved in the incident were initially sentenced to 10 years in prison, as they are minors, the court has sentenced them to only two-thirds of the term. These six are under 18 years of age. The Makwanpur District Court has ordered their guardians to pay 600,000 rupees in compensation.

One of the accused, who is 15 years old, has been sentenced to 3 years in prison and ordered to pay 300,000 rupees in compensation. Sujit Lama, who was found guilty, is being held in Bhimphedi Prison for pretrial detention. The other seven minors are in the Juvenile Reform Home at Thanabaryang, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-11. Two teenagers involved in the incident are absconding.

On the basis of a complaint filed by a teenage girl alleging that she was raped in the forest above the Banaskhandi Temple in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–2 on 6 Magh, police arrested eight people on 22 Falgun. Of those arrested, the Makwanpur District Court ordered one young man to be held in Bhimphedi Prison for pretrial detention and sent the seven minors to the Juvenile Reform Home in Hetauda.

The teenage girl had filed a complaint at the Makwanpur District Police Office on 21 Falgun, stating that she had been gang raped. Based on her complaint, police arrested eight people. The teenagers found guilty by the court and the girl who filed the complaint are students at the same campus in Hetauda. The victim is a bachelor's level student, while the boys are students in grade twelve.
