The short-distance Hetauda-Kulekhani-Pakhel-Kathmandu road connecting Hetauda and Kathmandu will be closed until Asad 25.
This short-distance road section connecting Bagmati Province capital Hetauda and the federal capital Kathmandu will be completely closed until Asad 25. Earlier, a notice was issued to close the road from Jestha 15 to Asad 15. Sujan Bhandari, Chief Senior Divisional Engineer of the Road Infrastructure Office, Hetauda, said that the time has been extended by 10 days due to the incomplete construction work.
The Infrastructure Development Office, Hetauda, issued a notice stating that the road closure period has been extended as it takes time for concrete to set at the road slope. Earlier, the road was completely closed from Jestha 15 to Asad 15 for the construction of a bridge over the Mahalaxmi River in Indrasarobar Rural Municipality-2 and 4 and the slope of the uphill road. The office has stated that although the bridge construction and slope work have been completed, vehicles will have to wait a few more days to operate due to technical reasons.
According to the Infrastructure Office, Hetauda, the road section is narrow and the sloped section is not yet mature enough to fully operate vehicles, so vehicle movement has been banned until Ashad 25. The Infrastructure Development Office has also requested the District Administration Office, Makawanpur and Kathmandu to coordinate to use the Kulekhani-Sisneri-Dakshinkali road as an alternative route for vehicles during the road closure period.
The road has been closed due to the pressure to complete the work within the current fiscal year 2082/83 and the heavy traffic on the road, which will hinder the construction work and cause inconvenience to passengers due to traffic jams.
