The District Administration Office has fined Lords Plaza Hotel in Bharatpur, Chitwan, Rs 300,000 for violating the Consumer Protection Act.

According to Madan Lama Thing, Administrative Officer of the District Administration Office, Chitwan, action was taken after the hotel was found to be using substandard cooking oil, not paying attention to the freshness of vegetables, and selling food items that adversely affected the health of consumers.

A notice issued by the administration said, "Based on complaints received from consumers regarding the quality of food at Lords Business Complex Hotel in Bharatpur-10, an inspection team including the Assistant Chief District Officer conducted a monitoring and found that substandard cooking oil was used, not paying attention to the freshness of vegetables, and providing food items that were detrimental to the health of consumers. Therefore, a fine of Rs 300,000 has been imposed as per the Consumer Protection Act."

Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, who came to Bharatpur for the general convention of the National Independent Party (NISP), was staying at this hotel. While having lunch at the hotel, he informed the administration after finding fish bones in the omelette he ordered.

According to the Home Minister's Secretariat, a team from the Food Technology and Quality Control Office then visited the hotel and inspected the quality of the food and questioned the operator. Based on the subsequent monitoring, the administration has decided to fine the hotel.
