The fifth convocation of the University of Agriculture and Forestry was held on Saturday. The convocation was held under the chief guestship of Ladakh University Vice-Chancellor Shaket Kushwaha.

It has been 16 years since the establishment of the University of Agriculture and Forestry at the Central Campus of the then Institute of Agriculture and Animal Sciences, which was a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University. Tribhuvan University has not yet handed over land to the University of Agriculture. This issue was also raised at the convocation.

Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the University, informed that the process of transferring the property has progressed during his remarks. ‘For this, collaboration and coordination is being done with other universities,’ said Minister Pokharel.

University Registrar Dr. Subir Singh informed that 2,193 graduates, graduates and PhD students in agriculture, animal science and forestry were conferred at the fifth convocation. Registrar Dr. Subir Singh said that 1,836 people from all faculties and programs have obtained bachelor's degrees, 327 master's degrees and 30 PhD degrees.

The Agricultural University was opened in Rampur on Asad 3, 2067. Since then, 5,906 people have completed bachelor's, master's and PhD degrees. Registrar Singh informed that a total of 4,408 people have completed bachelor's degrees, 1,426 master's degrees and 72 PhD degrees from all faculties and programs.

Education Minister Pokharel, who is also the Vice-Chancellor, said that agriculture is the basis of the new chapter of the country's economic transformation and that skilled manpower is required for this. He requested the students to create opportunities and engage in research.

Similarly, the convocation medals of 2081 and 2082 were also distributed. In 2081, Manita Poudel from the Faculty of Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries became the first university to receive the Chancellor's Medal. In 2082, Kamal Basyal from the Faculty of Animal Science became the first university to receive the Chancellor's Medal. Similarly, in 2081, Pooja Timilsina from the Faculty of Forestry became the first university to receive the Chancellor's Medal. In 2082, Divash Dhungana from the Faculty of Animal Science became the first university to receive the Chancellor's Medal. The Vice-Chancellor's Medal is awarded to the student who comes first in the faculty.
