A sub-engineer who went to monitor the project in Dhading has been brutally beaten up. A local man has brutally beaten up sub-engineers who went to inspect the Ijara Drinking Water Project in Ward No. 4 of Nilakantha Municipality in Dhading.
Sub-engineer Habendra Yadav, working under the Drinking Water and Sewerage Management Office, Chitwan, has been seriously injured in the beating. According to the office, on Tuesday evening, sub-engineers Suresh Ale and Habendra Yadav were riding their motorcycles on an unset slope while crossing the slope that was made a few days ago.
They had moved on from there as the slope had been completely set and there was no alternative route. However, as soon as they were about to cross the road, a 40-year-old local man, Sanjiv Malla, suddenly attacked them.
Although driver Suresh Ale was only slightly beaten up because he was wearing a helmet, Habendra Yadav, the passenger in the back, suffered serious head and face injuries.
After receiving general treatment in the district headquarters Dhading Besi, Habendra's friend Nimesh Adhikari informed that he was sent to the B&B Hospital in Lalitpur for further treatment after his right jaw bone was broken. When a team of police arrived after the incident, the accused Malla was initially at the scene. However, it is said that he entered the house and escaped saying, "I will change my clothes and come back and let both parties talk together."
The police, however, said that the culprit was absconding when they reached the scene immediately after receiving the news of the incident and that they are searching for him. After the incident, the Water Supply and Sewerage Management Office has filed a complaint with the police demanding action against the culprit. There have been demands for strict action, saying that the unprovoked beating of technicians who went to work in the office will deteriorate the working environment and weaken the morale of employees.
