The District Police Office, Makawanpur, on Monday arrested two absconding defendants who were convicted in a drug case and sentenced to imprisonment and fine by the court.
According to the spokesperson of the District Police Office, Makawanpur and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Madhav Kafle, the arrested defendant is Gautam Gubhaju, 38, of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-1, who was convicted in a drug case. The court had sentenced him to 2 years in prison and a fine of Rs 100,000.
Similarly, the police have also arrested Riju Kumari Dahal, 25, of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-10, who was sentenced to 5 years in prison in a drug case involving brown heroin.
Spokesperson Kafle said that both the arrested defendants have been presented before the Makawanpur District Court for necessary action and necessary action has been taken. Both were arrested while hiding in the village.
The Makawanpur police have started arresting absconding defendants who were convicted and sentenced to imprisonment and fine by the court with the aim of implementing the court's verdict.
