A campaign has been launched in Hetauda to give fruit baskets to those who donate empty and old plastic bottles. On the occasion of World Environment Day, wards 6 and 18 here, with the support of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City and the Toll Development Organization Municipal Coordination Committee, have launched a campaign to collect bottles and give them baskets. Under the
program, arrangements were made to give 1 fruit basket for every 10 plastic bottles. Under the campaign, more than 400 fruit baskets of advanced varieties were distributed from both wards.
Toll Development Organization Municipal Coordination Committee Chairman Dhruv Prasad Adhikari said that the program was launched with the aim of protecting the environment, promoting greenery, and encouraging the culture of fruit production at home. He said that the active participation of all citizens is necessary to make the city green and environmentally friendly.
Ward No. 18 Chairman Anil Kumar Baniya said that such campaigns will make a significant contribution to increasing fruit production at the local level along with protecting the environment and said that such programs will be continued in the coming days.
Locals expressed happiness that such campaigns have increased citizens' interest in environmental protection and have made tree plantations effective. Saplings of advanced varieties of fruits including litchi, aap, mango, avocado, and lemon were distributed during the program.
According to the organizers, such programs will be conducted at 6 locations in the city as part of the week-long program of World Environment Day-2083, and the goal is to distribute more than 1,000 saplings through the campaign.
