Bagmati Rural Municipality has won the title of the 16th edition of the Makawanpur District-level President's Running Shield competition.
Bagmati Rural Municipality managed to win 25 gold, 15 silver and 12 bronze medals in the competition that concluded on Thursday morning. Bakaiya Rural Municipality secured second place in the Running Shield by winning 16 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City came third in the competition by winning 15 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze medals. Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City is the winner of last year's President's Running Shield. The competition, which was supposed to be held on Wednesday, was extended by a day due to rain.
Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City won the final match of the volleyball for the students on Wednesday of the competition organized by the Makawanpur District Sports Development Committee, which started on Monday at Huprachaur in Hetauda-4. Hetauda Sub-metropolitan Municipality defeated Thaha Municipality by 25-22, 25-19, 20-25, 22-25 and 15-6 sets.
Similarly, in the 3,000-meter race for boys, Sandeep Bik of Manahari Rural Municipality came first, while Manik Gole of Manahari came second. Harikrishna Bal of Thaha Municipality came third.
In the 3,000-meter race for girls, Rabina Bholan of Bagmati Rural Municipality came first, Yunisa Lama of Thaha Municipality came second, and Babita Shrestha of Manahari came third. Bagmati Rural Municipality Chairman Sarkesh Ghalan, State Sports Council member Amrit Lumba and others distributed running shields and prizes to the winning municipalities and players.
Volleyball, kabaddi, karate, taekwondo, wushu and athletics were conducted in the competition. 450 players, including 210 female students from 9 municipalities, participated in the competition. Students from Raksirang Rural Municipality did not participate in the competition.
