Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya has directed 119 local levels in 13 districts of Bagmati Province to implement Nepali (Newari) and Tamang languages in a practical manner.
Inaugurating the Province Language Day-2083 organized by the Bagmati Province Culture and Tourism Ministry in Bhaktapur on Thursday, Chief Minister Baniya directed to place notices or boards in Nepali, Nepali and Tamang languages in municipalities and public places for everyone to see.
Stating that the provincial government will increase the budget if necessary for the protection of language, art and culture, Chief Minister Baniya said that only the protection of the mother tongue can protect its history, culture and identity. Stating that a language museum should be established in the Kathmandu Valley, he said that a museum will be built in the Kathmandu Valley, which is a city of history and heritage, to preserve the language, art, culture, traditions, customs and culture of all ethnic groups including Newari and Tamang.
Chief Minister Baniya honored Newari language writer Dr. Pushparaj Rajkarnikar for his contributions to the field of language, literature and culture, and Rajendra Thokar for his contributions to Tamang language literature. At the program, Bagmati Province Health Minister Kiran Thapa, Education and Social Development Minister Kanchan Bade Shrestha, Bhaktapur Municipality Mayor Sunil Prajapati, Indigenous Peoples Commission Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar, Nepal Tamang Ghedung General Secretary Jagat Dong, Newa De Dabu Central Chairman Rashmila Prajapati, Province Secretary Dipendra Subedi and others said that it is necessary to protect all languages, art and culture.
Program chairman and Bagmati Province Culture and Tourism Minister Suresh Shrestha said that today's program was organized because the Bagmati Province government has decided to celebrate Language Day on Baisakh 24 every year for the past three years to commemorate the day the Official Languages Act 2079 BS came into effect.
