The commercial production of tea plantations planted on barren land in Panchakanya Rural Municipality of Nuwakot has begun.

Tej Bahadur Tamang, the rural municipality chairman, informed that production has started from about 13,000 tea plants planted three years ago in Ghyangswara, ward no. 4 of the rural municipality. According to him, the commercial production of 'Ghyangswara Organic Tea' has started with the start of production through leaf processing for the first time.

'Since it is in the legal process stage including trademark and license, it will take some time to reach the market (consumers),' said Chairman Tamang, 'The initial results of the quality test conducted by the concerned body of 100 percent organically produced tea have come out as 'excellent' among the orthodox ones.'

The rural municipality is excited as the production of tea, which was planted with the labor of hundreds of locals, including public representatives, employees, teachers and students, in Ghyangswara-4, which was barren and covered with weeds, has started three years ago. Recently, under the leadership of the municipality, 83,000 seedlings are ready to be produced in 332 ropanis of the Ghyangswara Martyrs' Memorial Tourist Park area, which was built under the leadership of the municipality, in coordination with the Employment Service Center Panchakanya under the Prime Minister's Employment Program. According to him, the leaves picked from 12,050 seedlings have been processed at the Tea and Coffee Development Office Kakani.

Three kilograms of tea have been produced in the processing of 15 kilograms of leaves for testing. It is stated that its quality is excellent among the orthodox tea produced in the high hilly and mountainous areas. Employment Coordinator Khati said that after the legal process is completed, the commercial production of 'Ghyangswara Orthodox Tea' will be sent to the market after determining the price.
