A van carrying illegal Chinese groceries worth over Rs 10 million brought from Sindhupalchowk through the Tatopani border crossing connecting China has been seized.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Nepal of the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 16 Headquarters Sindhupalchowk, the goods were seized by the Armed Police Force check post team at the check post located in Balefi Rural Municipality-8 on Sunday night while checking a van (Na 3 Kha 5140) coming from Bahrabise towards Khadichaur.
The team deployed under the command of Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Siyaram Chaudhary found the goods without bills and customs declarations during the check, he said. 'The estimated value of the seized Chinese groceries is Rs 8.631 million, while the value of the vehicle is estimated at around Rs 1.5 million,' Nepal said.
The Armed Police Force has informed that the seized goods and vehicles have been sent to the Tatopani Customs Office for necessary action.
