The construction of a concrete bridge over the Bagmati River under the Kanti Lokpath, which enters Kathmandu from Hetauda, is in full swing.

The construction of a bridge over the Bagmati River at Mahadevtar, Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-8, Makawanpur and Bagmati Rural Municipality, Baguwa, Lalitpur is in full swing. The 2-span concrete bridge is 90 meters long. An agreement was signed with the construction company on June 27, 2080 to construct the 11-meter-wide bridge. The agreement stipulates that the construction work should be completed by June 26, 2083.

Upendra Maharan, Information Officer of the Kanti Lokpath Road Project, said that work is being done at a fast pace to complete the construction within the stipulated time. Only 25 percent of the bridge being constructed at a cost of about Rs 180 million has been completed.

The bridge, which was built on the Bagmati River 13 years ago, was washed away by the flood two years ago. A bridge was built there after some time. A concrete bridge is being constructed near the bridge. The floods of 2002 Asoj 11 and 12 washed away the bridge and the access road.

Cutting, retaining wall installation, and blacktop work are also underway at various places on the 79-kilometer-long Kanti Lokpath from Buddha Chowk in Hetauda to Tika Bhairav. Information Officer Maharan said that most of the Kanti Lokpath is being made into two-lane. Kanti Lokpath is 40 kilometers towards Makawanpur and 39 kilometers towards Lalitpur. The Bagmati Bridge under construction is 40 kilometers from Hetauda.
