The budget session of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly is starting today. The cabinet meeting of the Bagmati Provincial Government on Sunday decided to recommend to the provincial chief to convene the provincial assembly meeting for 4 pm on Tuesday.

Based on the recommendation, provincial chief Deepak Prasad Devkota has convened the 17th session of the provincial assembly. The provincial assembly meeting is going to be held in the assembly hall of the sub-metropolitan city located in Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-2.

The building of the provincial assembly located in Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-10 was set on fire during the Gen-G movement. After the main building of the provincial assembly was damaged during the Gen-G movement, the building has been temporarily renovated to conduct the meeting in the building behind the Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City office.

The hall, which was damaged during the Gen-G movement, has been prepared for the operation of the provincial assembly by making minor repairs. Most of the building, which was damaged by arson during the protest, was burnt down. The prefab building has been reconstructed and preparations for the meeting have been made.

The newly constructed Provincial Assembly building in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan Municipality-10, which was built at a cost of about 120 million rupees, has been completely damaged by arson during the Gen-G protest.

Government spokesperson and Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Prabhat Tamang informed that the construction process of the Provincial Assembly building has not been progressed as the government is preparing to construct the necessary buildings in one place after acquiring land for the provincial structures.

According to him, the construction of the provincial structures including the Provincial Assembly building in one place will be started from the budget of the current fiscal year. Spokesperson Tamang informed that the Speaker will be elected within two weeks of the start of this session of the Provincial Assembly. Out of 110 members of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly, six resigned to run for the House of Representatives election on Falgun 21, leaving 104 members of the Provincial Assembly.
