A pregnant woman has been rescued by helicopter from Ramechhap on the initiative of the Bagmati Province Health Directorate, Hetauda.

Pregnant Belimaya Tamang, 35, of Manthali-1, Ramechhap, was rescued by helicopter from Manthali Hospital on Tuesday.

She was treated for five days at the Manthali Hospital and needed immediate treatment on Tuesday as her baby was not moving, said Dr. Narendra Kumar Jha, Director of the Health Directorate, Hetauda. 'In coordination with the health workers of Manthali Hospital, she was rescued by helicopter and taken to the Women and Obstetrics Hospital, Thapathali, Kathmandu, where she is currently undergoing treatment,' he said.

The Bagmati Province government has been making arrangements for the emergency rescue of pregnant and postpartum women and newborns in critical conditions in remote areas by helicopter for the past 2 years. Last year, three pregnant women from Dolakha and Ramechhap were rescued in coordination with the Health Directorate, Hetauda, and the health offices of the respective districts. Director Dr. Jha informed that two more women have been rescued in the current year.
