The body of an excavator driver who was buried in a landslide during road expansion in Gaujeni, Shivapuri Rural Municipality-3, Nuwakot, was recovered on Wednesday evening. With this, the number of people who died in landslides has reached two, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Bikram Lama. According to him, local Fulman Tamang and excavator driver Amrit Tamang died after being buried in a landslide with a large stone falling from above around 2 pm during the expansion of the local road leading from the plain in Gaujeni to Lapse.

Fulman, 35, who is also the treasurer of the consumer committee under the road construction, was pulled out of the landslide dead immediately after the incident. The body of driver Amrit, 24, who went missing along with the excavator after falling into the landslide, was recovered by security forces including the Nepal Army five hours later. 

The body has been sent to Trishuli Hospital for an autopsy. Police said that the search for additional damage to the site is ongoing.
