The Dhulikhel-Khawa road section along the Araniko Highway will be closed for 11 hours daily for 2 weeks.

The Division Road Office, Bhaktapur, issued a notice today, stating that it has been decided to ban the operation of four-wheeled vehicles, including buses, from 6 pm to 5 am from 7 to 20 Chaitra.

Heavy vehicles, including tippers and trucks, have been banned from operating 24 hours a day from 7 Chaitra.

The Division Road Office has stated that the closure was necessary because the road will be blacktopped during this period. The construction of this road, which was stalled for a long time, has now accelerated. The road construction had begun after an agreement was reached between the Road Division, Bhaktapur and CM/AWAN/Kali JV Kathmandu.

An agreement worth Rs 315.6 million has been signed for the construction of the road.

According to the previous agreement, a contract agreement was signed between the Road Division, Bhaktapur and Gauri Parbati Construction Services Pvt. Ltd. on 20 Jestha 2079 to expand the 4.155-kilometer road from Dhulikhel to Khawa within 22 months.

After the construction company did not perform satisfactorily despite repeated extensions, the division canceled the contract agreement with the construction contractor on 15 Falgun 2081. Although the construction contractor went to court against the decision to cancel the contract, a new contract was awarded after the court ruled in favor of the Road Division.
