Fire in 2 houses in Thaha, damage of Rs. 700,000

Two houses caught fire last night in Agare and Takhel in Thaha Municipality-2. One house was completely destroyed in the fire. The other house was partially destroyed. The fire caused damage worth around seven hundred thousand rupees.

A fire broke out in an old thatched house with a zinc-sheet roof next to the new house of Gupta Karki of Angare, Thaha Municipality-2, when a lamp was lit during a puja. Gupta Karki's wife, 61-year-old Sannani Karki, was injured in the fire due to smoke inhalation. She is being treated at the Palung Primary Health Center.

The house has been partially burnt down and the damage, including wood, food grains and documents, is estimated to be worth around Rs 500,000, said Ruksa Bajracharya, Police Inspector of Palung, IPR. The fire was brought under control after 2 hours by the fire brigade, police and locals.

Similarly, a fire broke out in an old uninhabited thatched house with a zinc-sheet roof, about 500 meters north of the new house of Chandra Bahadur Deula of Takhel, Thaha Municipality-2.

As soon as the news of the incident was received, a 15-member police team under the command of Police Inspector Ruksa Bajracharya from the Area Police Office, Palung and a 10-member city police team under the command of Armed Police Inspector Yubaraj Karki, along with the help of local residents and fire brigade, completely brought the fire under control.

Although there were no human or livestock casualties in the fire, the house was completely destroyed by fire. According to initial estimates, the Area Police Office, Palung, has reported a loss of about 200,000 rupees.
