Thirteen people have been arrested on charges of pelting stones at police and setting a tipper on fire at Chandani Chowk in Banepa on Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday morning, a tipper (Bapr 01-004 Ka 3423) heading towards Sanga and a scooter (Bapr 02-063 Pa 9189) heading in the same direction met with an accident in Banepa around 8 am.
The scooter driver, 30-year-old Oman Pradhan, who was injured in the accident, died during treatment at Sheer Memorial Hospital, Banepa. Police have arrested 13 people on charges of obstructing the investigation by pelting stones at a police team deployed to investigate the accident and setting fire to a tipper.
The arrested people are from various places in Kavre, Sindhupalcho and Bara districts. According to DSP Rabin Bista, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Kavre, they were taken into custody from various places and are being investigated with a 7-day remand from the District Court.
