The underweight baby was not crying immediately after birth, had a blue body, and had low oxygen levels, and was taken to Kanti Children's Hospital, Kathmandu, after being rescued by helicopter in coordination with the Public Health Office, Dhading.
The baby was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) immediately after reaching the hospital and treatment was started under the supervision of a specialist doctor, said Dr. Narendra Kumar Jha, Director of the Health Directorate, Hetauda.
The Bagmati Province government has been making arrangements for emergency rescue of pregnant women, newborns, and newborns in critical condition in remote areas by helicopter for the past 2 years.
In the last fiscal year, the Directorate rescued 3 newborns from Dolakha and Ramechhap by helicopter in coordination with the concerned District Health Office. Director Dr. Jha said that a newborn baby was rescued by helicopter in the current fiscal year.
