A female leopard was found dead in Thaha Municipality, Makawanpur on Monday night.

An adult female leopard was found dead on the banks of Mahalaxmi River in Chitlang, Thaha Municipality-9.

‘The 39-kg leopard was bleeding from its mouth,’ said Assistant Inspector Dinnath Prasad Yadav of the Chitlang Police Office. ‘It seems that the leopards died after fighting with each other.’ 

The 170-centimeter-long leopard is estimated to be about 4 years old. In the presence of Sanukaji Shrestha, President of the Margin Community Forest Users Group, local people’s representatives and locals, the leopard was taken to the Godam Chaur in Chitlang and managed, said Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Makawanpur, Pushkar Bogati.

The place is 1 kilometer south of Chitlang, IPR. The community forest in Chitlang is home to leopards and other wild animals.
