Bhaktapur: The Madhav Narayan fast, which began a month ago at Triveni Dham in Hanumanghat, Bhaktapur, has concluded.

This fast, which began in the eighth century of Nepal Samvat, was formally concluded on Sunday at Hanumanghat in Bhaktapur after observing a strict fast for a month from the full moon of Pus Shukla to the full moon of Magh Shukla.

It is a tradition that those observing the fast of Madhav Narayan should observe fasting from the day before the fast begins, bathe in the Triveni in the morning and worship with pure water and puja materials, drink conch water and chant mantras, and after drinking conch water, do not touch anyone and do not wear shoes.

On the day of Magh Shukla Purnima, there was a huge crowd of people observing the fast of Madhav Narayan and Shri Swasthani at Hanumanghat on Sunday. More than 200 women concluded the Madhav Narayan fast by taking a bath in Magh.

Although the fasting women stayed here, the men came to the Triveni River every morning to bathe and go on Kalash Yatras to different places with the fasting women.

It is a tradition for the devotees to walk barefoot from Tilmadhav Narayan in Suryamadhi to Taleju Bhavani in the Durbar area from Aunsi onwards, go to Panauti on Saptami, sit at Triveni and after bathing, visit Indreshwar Mahadev and return on Ashtami, go to Pashupati on Dashami, bathe and offer water and perform Kalash Yatra to Jayabageshwari Tamreshwar Mahadev, take a bath and take Kalash to Changunarayan Shankhadah on Dwadashi and visit Changunarayan with Kalash, and on Magh Shukla Purnima, go around the city and offer Indra Kalash to the statue of Bhupatindra Malla and conclude the fast.

It is believed that observing a strict fast for a month will fulfill one's wishes. Today, the Shree Swasthani Vrat Katha also concludes.
