A sudden fire broke out in a tanker carrying diesel near Churiyamai Temple in Hetauda on Monday evening, creating tension in the surrounding area for some time. The fire broke out in the engine compartment while the tanker was moving.

A diesel tanker carrying Lu 1 Kha 6609, coming from Amlekhgunj to Hetauda, caught fire, completely destroying the front of the tanker. However, the fire did not reach the diesel storage area, so damage and possible accidents were averted.

As soon as the news of the fire was received, two fire engines from Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City and Amlekhgunj Oil Corporation were deployed to the scene. The fire was brought under control at around 5:30 pm with the help of fire engines, said Police Inspector Kishori Acharya of the Area Police Office, Pashupatinagar.

'Since the fire was limited to the engine part, it did not spread to the diesel, so major damage was avoided,' he said.

Since the front of the tanker burned down on the road, the road section is currently operating in one direction only. Pushkar Bogati, Deputy Superintendent of Police and spokesperson of the District Police Office, Makawanpur, said that coordination is being done with the concerned agencies to facilitate traffic movement in both directions.

The incident site is located about 8 kilometers south of the Area Police Office, Pashupatinagar.
