Jugal Rural Municipality 'B' has won the title of the District Inter-municipality Level Open Volleyball Tournament 2082 organized at Duwachaur, Melamchi Municipality 7 in the district.

In the final match of the competition organized by Melamchi Municipality and Young Star Youth Club, Jugal 'B' defeated the host Young Star Youth Club 5-2 to win the title. Jugal 'B' performed excellently in the exciting match.

In the match for third place, Sele defeated Helambu Rural Municipality to win the third place, while Helambu Rural Municipality was limited to a consolation place.

In the four-day competition, the winner Jugal 'B' received a cash prize of Rs 100,000. Similarly, the second, third and consolation teams received Rs 50,000, 30,000 and 15,000 respectively, along with shields, medals and certificates.

Program coordinator and Young Star Youth Club President Prem Tamang informed that 14 teams from across the district participated in the competition.

Melamchi Municipality Mayor Aitaman Tamang, Deputy Mayor Uma Pradhan, Ward President Pasang Tamang and others distributed prizes to the winning team. Melamchi Mayor Tamang said that sports are not only a means of entertainment but also an important basis for health, discipline, unity and nation building.

He said that games like volleyball develop cooperation, leadership, patience and competitive ability in the youth, adding that such competitions will strengthen mutual relations between municipalities and contribute greatly to the identification and encouragement of local talent.
