A Chepang candidate from the most marginalized community has emerged as a candidate from Makawanpur district for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21.

 

Shubharaj Chepang filed his candidacy in Makawanpur-2 on Tuesday on behalf of the United Citizens Party. Chepang, 36, of Raksirang Rural Municipality-5 in Makawanpur has filed his candidacy. He is the only one to file his candidacy from a marginalized community.

The candidates in the two constituencies of Makawanpur are between the ages of 25 and 64. The youngest among the candidates is Prashant Upreti, who has filed his candidacy in Makawanpur-2 from the National Independent Party. Upreti, of Makawanpur Manahari Rural Municipality, is only 25 years old.

The oldest among the candidates is Deepak Bahadur Singh, who has filed his candidacy in Makawanpur-1 from the RPP. Singh, of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-2, is 64 years old. Tika Prasad Chaulagain of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-5, who has filed an independent candidacy from the same constituency, is also 64 years old.

44 people have registered their candidacies from two constituencies in Makawanpur in the upcoming House of Representatives member election. In the nomination registration program held on Tuesday, 23 people from Constituency No. 1 and 21 people from Constituency No. 2 registered their candidacies.

Among those who have filed their candidacies, there are 13 party candidates and 10 independent candidates in Constituency No. 1. There are 16 party candidates and 5 independent candidates in Constituency No. 2.

5 women have filed their candidacies from Constituency No. 1 and 18 are men. Similarly, there are 2 women candidates from Constituency No. 2. Out of the 5 women filing their candidacies from Constituency No. 1, 3 are party candidates and 2 are independent. Both women filing their candidacies from Constituency No. 2 are independent candidates.
