Sonam Lhosar was celebrated on Monday with prayers and cultural tableaus at various places in the district. The festival of the Buddhist Tamang community was celebrated with great pomp in the district. On the occasion of Lhosar, a worship and cultural program was held at the Bakhundol Buddha Park, Dhulikhel-4 Ward Office, located at 28 Kilo in Dhulikhel-4, Kavre. Lama Guru conducted the worship organized by the Indigenous Peoples Council. During that time, various tableaus were displayed and cultural programs were organized.
A special Lhosar program has been held at Bakhundol Buddha Park for some years. Dhulikhel Municipality Chief Ashok Kumar Byanju Shrestha said that every religion, language, art and culture should be protected. He said that such festivals will help develop a sense of harmony, brotherhood, tolerance, reconciliation and brotherhood among all communities with multi-ethnic, multilingual and multicultural diversity.
The Tamang community has celebrated the festival by organizing various programs in Temal, Roshi, Mahabharat, Namobuddha, Khanikhola and Bethanchok rural municipalities of Kavre. Mahabharat, Khanikhola, Roshi, Chaurideurali, Temal, Bhumlu, Bethanchok Rural Municipality, Namobuddha, and Mandandeupur Municipality in the district also declared a public holiday on Monday on the occasion of this festival.
