The rare newcomer Gerumuhar Chanchar bird has been documented on the banks of the Manohara River on the border of Bhaktapur and Kathmandu.

Biodiversity expert Sujan Shrestha and photographer Krishna Prajapati captured a photo of the Gerumuhar Chanchar bird on the banks of the Manohara River in Kageshwori Manohar Municipality, Kathmandu, on Poush 30.

They claim that the bird is the first recorded in the Kathmandu Valley. Bird Conservation Nepal was introduced to the country after the photo of the unique bird was captured during the photoshoot. Photographer Prajapati said that Conservation Nepal's ornithologist and executive chairman Bimal Thapa confirmed that it was the first newcomer bird in the valley.

Earlier, on Kartik 25, 2081, ornithologist Shankar Tiwari had captured the first photo of the bird in Mustang district under the Annapurna Conservation Area.
