There has been no news from his family since his last death, when he sent a video message asking for help to free him about two and a half years ago.

Sujan Subedi went to Russia on a student visa to study. Sujan, who went to Russia from Dhuseri, Khairhani Municipality-3, Chitwan on October 17, 2022, joined the Russian army while studying and went to Ukraine to fight in the war.
Although he returned from the war for the first time, he was captured by the Ukrainian army the second time. About two and a half years ago, he sent a video message asking for an initiative to free him. Even after that, three prime ministers changed governments in the country. But since his death, the family has not heard from Sujan. ‘About two and a half years ago, with the help of Ukrainian media personnel, we received a video message. In which my brother asked Bharatpur Mayor Renu Dahal to save me,’ said Sujan’s brother Suman Subedi.
He had come to Bharatpur along with other locals for the protest on Friday. ‘After receiving the message that the army had taken him prisoner in Ukraine, we met Renu Dahal and reached out to the then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Later, KP Oli became the Prime Minister and now Sushila Karki is the Prime Minister after the Genji movement, but until now, let alone my brother, we have lost contact since my death,’ said Suman.
He said that they were going to demonstrate so that the current government would listen to their demands. But the police in Bharatpur stopped them from demonstrating. One person who had come from the village for the demonstration was arrested. Then they started the demonstration from Chaubiskothi and tried to move towards Narayangadh. After a while, the police stopped them from moving forward. ‘We want news of our brother and the process of his release to start quickly.’ For this, they were also obstructed while demonstrating,’ he said.
Sujan is Suman’s half-brother. Sujan was in Saudi Arabia. At home, his father had problems with both kidneys. His mother also had to be treated. Sujan, who had reached Russia to study, initially worked for 10 months. Later, after Russia’s war with Ukraine, his work stopped. ‘My brother told my parents that a job was available in the Russian army and that he would get good money.’ I also found out and said I shouldn’t go,’ Suman said. But Suman said that his brother had gone to war for his father's treatment despite being stopped.
After going for the first time and staying for 10-15 days, Sujan, who had returned safely from Ukraine, went again for the second time. Suman said that even after going for the second time, his brother did not call or message and said that he was going again and not to take tension. But his brother's call or message did not come for a long time. While he was waiting, a video came from Ukraine. 'We reached the place where we needed to go again and again. But there was no hearing. It started to feel like the Japanese government was not listening to our voices,' Suman said.
His younger brother had gone to Japan in the meantime. After no information was received about Sujan, who was held hostage in Ukraine, he also returned home from Japan. Suman complained that the government did not listen to them even though his family and neighbors supported them.
