With the aim of reducing child marriage, a municipality in Makawanpur has honored girls who have completed 12th grade and are married by the age of 20.

The district's remote Kailash Rural Municipality honored seven girls who completed 12th grade and completed 20 years of marriage with a cash award of Rs 20,000 on the occasion of the 17th village assembly.

The honorees are Aiska Thapa of Kailash-9, Kumarimaya Syangtan and Esther Chepang of Ward-10, Bimala Thapa Magar and Rita Thapa Magar of Ward-1, Pushpa Chepang of Ward-2, and Sirjana Darlami Magar of Ward-5. 

The municipality has been honoring girls who completed 12th grade and completed 20 years of marriage as an incentive for the past three years with the aim of reducing child marriage. Rural Municipality Chairman Lok Bahadur Moktan believes that the impact of the said program has been positive in the society. 

Senior Anami Nanimaiya Satyal of Namtar Health Post, Health Assistant Sarfodin Raut Gaddi of Lichche Basic Health Post and Office Assistant Tol Kumari Subedi of Gogane Health Post were honored in the program.

The 17th Village Assembly of the rural municipality held on Thursday has passed a revised budget of Rs 25.1 million from internal resources. The municipality is going to implement a revised budget of Rs 24.91 million, including Rs 94.2 million from internal resources for current and Rs 154.8 million for capital. The rural municipality has added Rs 25.1 million from internal resources.

Earlier, on Ashad 10, the rural municipality had brought a budget of Rs 54.29 million. Kailash has not revised the amount for special and conditional grants included in the budget. Kailash has cut 17 projects and added 43 plans. It has reduced the amount in 14 plans and added the amount in 4 plans.

In the assembly, Legislative Committee Coordinator Bhuwan Singh Ghalan presented the bill to make provisions regarding the financial procedures and financial accountability of the rural municipality, the rural municipality's Beruju Fursuit Procedure 082, the procedure for the formation and operation of the rural municipality's accounts committee, and the procedure for the establishment and operation of the village assembly secretariat.
