More than two dozen water ducks (Jalewa) that have come from Siberia to escape the winter have been found in the fishery area of ​​Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-5.

The waterfowl census team found a large waterfowl on Sunday. 

The waterfowl came to this area from Siberia to escape the winter and search for food, said Vivek Mehta, coordinator of the World Conservation Nepal (BCN) Hetauda branch. ‘Two types of waterfowl, small and large, were found here,’ he said, ‘The large waterfowl came here from Siberia and other countries to escape the winter and search for food, while the small one is a local one.’ There are more than two dozen fish ponds at the Fisheries Center in Piple, Hetauda-5. 

As part of the nationwide census of waterfowl, Mehta’s team started the bird census from the confluence of the Kukhureni and Rapti rivers in Hetauda on Saturday. On Saturday, they found a Tilhari and a Common Merganser in the Rapti river. 

Bird counting was conducted in the fishery area on Sunday, while the last day, on Monday, the bird counting will be conducted in the Karra River area, said Coordinator Mehta. More than 25 people have been deployed in Hetauda for the bird counting.
