68-year-old Sukmayadevi Tamang was found dead on Saturday morning in Ratnanagar Municipality-4.
After not seeing her leave the house until early morning, the neighbors went to check and found her dead in the room around 10 am. Considering the nature of the incident, the police suspect that she was murdered.
‘Clothing is pulled over her face. It looks like her throat was strangled. There are no external injuries,’ said DSP Rapindra Khanal, spokesperson for the Chitwan District Police Office.
He said that her hands and feet were also found tied with cloth. He said that more details will be revealed after the postmortem of the body.
Police said that the woman was alone in the house when the incident occurred. DSP Khanal said that the incident is being analyzed and investigated from various angles.
