Police arrested a fugitive on Thursday after five years after being convicted in a drug case.

Police arrested 33-year-old Suresh Lopchan, alias Lubhu, of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-1, while he was hiding.

The Makawanpur District Court had sentenced Lopchan to two years in prison and a fine of Rs 100,000 in 2077 Baisakh for trafficking in the narcotics nitrate. 

He had been absconding after the verdict. Police said that he was produced before the Makawanpur District Court on Thursday and sent to Bhimphedi Jail.  

14 absconding accused have been arrested and produced before the court so far this month, said DSP Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson of the Makawanpur District Police Office. According to him, 39 absconding accused have been produced before the court from Shrawan to Poush 17.
