Police have arrested four people from Mude, Lisankhupakhar Rural Municipality-5, Sindhupalchowk, on charges of defrauding them by offering them the opportunity to exchange dollars.
According to the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, the police took them into custody on Monday night based on confidential information. 955,000 rupees in cash, two motorcycles, six mobile phones and two checkbooks have been recovered from the arrested persons.
'Initial investigation has revealed that they have been systematically sending photos and videos of dollars through phones and social media to convince people and defrauding them by taking Nepali rupees,' said DSP Madhavraj Kharel of the District Police.
The investigation also revealed that they have been using women to approach the victims.
The police have said that further investigation is currently underway into the fraud-related offenses against the arrested persons.
