The Makawanpur District Police has informed that marijuana and opium cultivations carried out in various places in Raksirang Rural Municipality-1, 6, 7 and 8 and Kailash Rural Municipality-1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 9 have been uprooted.
Makawanpur Police have uprooted illegally cultivated marijuana and opium from various places in Raksirang and Kailash villages.
A joint team of Bagmati Province Police Office, Hetauda, District Police Makawanpur, Bagmati Province Police Battalion, Hetauda, and Disaster Management Unit, Hetauda, conducted a marijuana and opium eradication campaign from Friday to Monday.
During the campaign, marijuana and opium cultivations were uprooted in various places in Raksirang Rural Municipality-1, 6, 7, and 8 and Kailash Rural Municipality-1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9 of Makawanpur, according to the District Police Makawanpur.
The police team said that marijuana planted in an area of 21 bighas and opium plants planted in an area of 9 bighas were destroyed. The police said that the campaign will be continued with the aim of controlling drugs and discouraging illegal cultivation.
Opium and marijuana cultivation has been going on in these two municipalities of Makawanpur. In the last fiscal year, 120 bighas of marijuana and 39 bighas and 14 kaththas of opium plants were uprooted.
