The writ petition filed in the Supreme Court against the 25-meter road expansion in Hetauda's main market area has been placed on the 'not to be seen' list again on Sunday.

The writ petition, scheduled for hearing on Sunday in a joint bench of Justices Kumar Regmi and Shantisingh Thapa, was not heard.

Earlier, on Poush 2, the petition was listed as 'not to be heard' in a bench of Justices Til Prasad Shrestha and Sunil Kumar Pokharel, while on Poush 6, the bench of Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut and Justice Tek Prasad Dhungana had listed the case as 'not to be heard'.

The petition was scheduled for Sunday on a writ petition filed by six people, including Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader and former MP Bindabasini Kansakar, regarding the road expansion in the Hetauda Bazaar area. The Supreme Court has scheduled the hearing of the case for Poush 20.

They had approached the Supreme Court on November 16 demanding property rights and compensation after the Division Road Office Hetauda, Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City and District Administration Office Makawanpur, among other bodies, started the road expansion process. The Supreme Court had issued a short-term interim order in a writ petition filed against the Road Department, the Ministry of Urban Development and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.

On November 20, the Division Road Office demolished more than 500 houses and huts within the 9.5-kilometer road boundary from Ratomate to Buddha Chowk to Rapti Bridge (Mahendra Highway) and from Buddha Chowk to Chowkitol (Tribhuvan Highway) in the course of the 25-25 meter road expansion in the main market area of Hetauda.

The main market of Hetauda is now in chaos after the demolition of the houses and huts. There is no electricity in the main market at night. The risk of accidents has also increased on this dusty road. After the Road Department demolished the front part of the house with a dozer, those who own the land behind it are demolishing the remaining houses themselves, while some are building new ones.

Even though both sides of the case are called to the Supreme Court, the case is being dragged out because the judge's bench is unable to hear them.

The Road Division Office, Hetauda, has stated that it has not been able to move forward with the road expansion and management work due to legal complications. Division Chief Guruprasad Adhikari said that the office is forced to 'stay with its hands tied' until the Supreme Court orders it. 'We are waiting for the Supreme Court's order,' he said. The Road Department, local administration and victims of house collapses are demanding that the court prioritize the Hetauda road expansion case and settle it.

The Road Division Office demolished about 500 houses in the morning of Mangsir 20 using a dozen dozers from Ratomate to the popular hotel in Chowkitol and from Buddha Chowk to the District Police Office.

Hetauda is also the headquarters of the then Central Region, where settlements began to be built after 2011 BS. The Road Division Office in Hetauda, which is now the capital of Bagmati Province, has stated that it is trying to expand by removing the houses and structures built in the main market area for the construction of the Asian Highway.

The Division Office has a list of 234 houses and structures on the right and 297 on the left within 25/25 yards of the center of the road that need to be demolished. Of these, about 500 structures have been demolished so far.
