The second Ichchakamana Orange Festival and 'Food Festival' is starting from today. The Orange Festival is being held in Muglin Bazaar under the joint organization of the Chitwan Industry Association Ichchakamana Committee and the Hotel Entrepreneurs Association Ichchakamana Unit.
The festival was organized with the belief that it would help attract domestic and foreign tourists, said Ramhari Kandel, chairman of the Chitwan Industry Association Ichchakamana Committee. He informed that there will be more than 50 rooms in the exhibition. More than a hundred farmers who produce Ichchakamana oranges at the festival will directly benefit from their products. The organizers believe that this will protect and promote local art, culture and traditions.

Dan Bahadur Gurung, chairman of Ichchakamana Rural Municipality, said that the people of this area earn a turnover of Rs 90 million to 100 million annually from orange production. He said that since the oranges here are juicy, there is no problem in the market to sell them. To protect the orange orchards and expand new areas, the rural municipality has been distributing seedlings every year.
Chairman Gurung says that the Orange Festival and Food Festival will also help promote the tourist areas here. The rural municipality is the patron of the festival, which will run until Poush 15.
