An attempt has been made to vandalize the primary health center in Suri, Gaurishankar Rural Municipality-5, which has been providing 24-hour services, and to attack health workers.
On Sunday night, around 10 pm, a group of 5/7 people who entered the health center under the pretext of having their blood pressure checked after consuming alcohol, vandalized it and attempted to attack health workers, said Police Inspector Shriram Timalsina of the District Police Office, Dolakha. Health workers are panicking after the vandalization and attack attempt. Police have stated that the group damaged the health center's treatment room, emergency room, lab, and other structures including furniture.
Village council chair Biswas Karki said that the vandalization of the health center, which has been providing services to locals in remote areas, along with doctors, and the attempt to attack health workers have caused difficulties in operating the service. "Currently, efforts are being made to get details of the damage caused by the vandalism and to bring the service into operation immediately," he said. "Emergency services are operating and we have submitted CCTV footage to the police to identify the group that attacked."
The police have stated that they are identifying the group that attacked and vandalized and are searching for them. Inspector Timalsina said that they are searching for those involved in the vandalism.
Similarly, he said that police operations have been mobilized since Monday morning for the safety of health workers. The Suri Primary Health Center has been providing 24-hour services to the locals of remote areas, including a lab.
