Want to taste the oranges grown in the hilly Ichchakamana Rural Municipality of Chitwan? Starting next Friday, you will have the opportunity to taste the oranges as well as the delicacies of that region by visiting the Mugling Bazaar.

The Chitwan Industry Association and the Hoteliers Association are jointly organizing the Orange Festival and Food Festival in Ichchakamana from Friday, Poush 11 to Tuesday, Poush 15.

Two years ago, Ichchakamana Rural Municipality organized the first Orange Festival in Majhagaun, the place where oranges grow. As a continuation of that, this time, Ichchakamana Rural Municipality is going to be the main promoter and organize the second Orange Festival and Food Festival.

In which the Chitwan Industry Association and the Hoteliers Association Chitwan will be the patrons. There will be 25 orange and 25 food stalls at the festival. In a press conference organized in Bharatpur on Monday morning to provide information about the festival, Ichchakamana Rural Municipality Chairman Dan Bahadur Gurung said that Ichchakamana will earn an annual income of Rs 100 million from orange cultivation alone.

He also informed that the rural municipality has distributed 40,000 seedlings to farmers to increase orange cultivation.

‘Tamin village above Mugling Bazaar was famous for its oranges. It has declined there now. Oranges are growing well in the hilly areas including Hattibang in Ward No. 1, Tallo Kaule in Ward No. 2, Majhagaun in Ward No. 3, Siran Gaun, etc.’, said Chairman Gurung.

The organizers said that they will hold a seminar by inviting experts from the festival to resolve the problems seen in the orange trees. Many people have preferred the oranges from the Ichchakamana area because they are good and tasty.

Those who come to the festival will also be able to buy oranges, said Ramhari Kandel, Chairman of the Chitwan Industry Association Ichchakamana Committee. Similarly, the Mugling area is known throughout the country as a market where travelers can eat delicious food and snacks. 

The food festival will feature dishes from Mugling to the hilly areas of Chitwan, said Pujan Bhandari, Chairman of the Hoteliers Association Ichchakamana Unit.
